Villedieu-les-Poêles

Villedieu-les-Poêles  - the ideal place to explore ....

With its granite architecture and picturesque quaint cobbled passageways and courtyards (of which only 35 remain, where during the Middle Ages the artisans worked the copper, pewter and brass), Villedieu is a fascinating place to visit. The original copper techniques are still used today and it is possible to visit the Bell Foundry, the Atelier du Cuivre (Copper Workshop) and the Maison de l’Etain (House of Pewter), all of which are both interesting and educational.  For those of you who are interested in not only copper, but lace and wood, the Museum of Copper Pots, Pans & Laceand the Museum of Norman Furniture are worth a visit.

Villedieu les Poêles is surrounded by beautiful countryside, full of fertile green hills and valleys and is steeped in history. Villedieu is a good place to be based to take advantage of many activities including walking, cycling, fishing, horse-riding, water sports and more. The Mont Saint Michel, Abbeys, Castles, the D Day beaches, the coast with its sandy beaches and water sports are all within easy reach.   (Photos )
